What? Is Erika writing again? Am I seeing things? Is the world ending? What miracle is this?

Erm... this is totally NOT my fault. Blame Shep. And the Doctor.

This is a SGA fic with some DW thrown in, not the other way around (I think it’s readable for non-Doctor Who fans). It was complicated joining both universes because both shows are so different from each other in a number of aspects. I will not apologize for the made up science, lol. I wanted something fun and I chose that factor over having things make sense. It’s still very talky in some parts but I hope it satisfies all. Also, some characters were a bit in the background because there were just too many people in the scenes and since this is action and adventure with some technological woes, some characters obviously had more things to do than others. I did my best to amend that but it wasn’t always possible since, like I said before, this is more SGA than DW and I chose to write this from one single POV throughout the entire story.

But anyway, if you don't watch DW you should be able to understand the fic pretty well, but just in case you want to know more about the show (WHICH YOU TOTALLY SHOULD) just come here.

Now, if you with the DW crowd and don't know much about SGA, I'm sorry because most of this will be totally gibberish. So I recommend you amend this very serious blasphemy and GO WATCH IT NOW!

God! I can't believe I'm writing fic. It's totally not my fault! I've written 10,786 words so far and I'm in the second half. Just a few thousands more. I hope. And it's SGA. The TARDIS may have materialized in it. I swore not to write crossovers. It's too complicated when both shows are so damn different from each other but how can anyone resist those mad flailing hands and twirling around?

So, I'm here sitting around the teacher's room with re_nan (If you still haven't added him, do it NOW, he is a BIG SGA fan and he's starting to read fanfics) and we are VERY bored. LJ is acting up for him in the computer he is using. Meanwhile, I'm downloading the Torchwood pannel from Comic Con 2011 in the pc he is using, because d/l is faster in a network pc than in a wireless one which makes matters worse. And I just found the Supernatural pannel for d/l as well.

re_nan is loving SGA. He is the first person I totally converted to the fandom. *proud* He is a bit upset about what was done with Elizabeth Weir. He's watched up to Spoils of War. I also got him into Livejournal (and CityVille in FB).

My current obsession is Torchwood. I have rewatched all of season 2 and I'm in the proccess of rewatching Children of Earth. I still cry every time I watch Exit Wounds and probably will cry my eyes out with Children of Earth. Again. I'm trying to convince re_nan to watch Torchwood too. As well as Doctor Who. And SG1. Oh, and OMG can you believe HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT STAR TREK WAS!?!?!?! I told him I wouldn't be his friend anymore for as long as it takes for him to correct this BLASPHEMY!

At work we are currently organizing the magazine we are in the proccess of making, having each Advanced student (and volunteers of lower levels) written an article, which I ALONE had to correct and format. I also make the cover and IT'S BRILLIANT. I'll see if I can make an online version available when it is done. I'll have to talk with my coordinator.

My new home is doing well. I can wash, clean or leave it dirty as I please (at the moment it is closer to dirty than anything else, lol).

I guess nothing really surprising has happened to me. Actually the biggest shock I had was the fact that my dad (who is 63 years old) has made a Facebook account and is keeping up with the rest of us. Of course, he used to be a systems analyst in his days.

I guess I have taken enough of my time. At least I was able to make re_nan update his LJ...

I finally got to see the first episode of Miracle Day thanks to my brother. I managed to see it twice before writing this post and I can say that I really liked it.

Unspoilery parts first.

Miracle Day is dark. It’s darker than Children of Earth, but in a good way. It's a more real kind of Torchwood and it is ideal for a new audience. It has references for the old fans, but it also explains a lot of stuff for the new viewers without getting boring for those that already know how the show works. We've got old faces and new faces to ground each section of the viewership. As an old fan I didn't find it rushed or overly explanatory in any way and was intrigued to find out more, the main goal of a first episode. In a way it feels more like a spinoff than a new season.

The fans that didn't like Children of Earth can give this a try, but don’t think this season will be the same as the ones before. The Welsh roots are still there, but it’s a bigger picture now and a larger scale. The budget certainly looks bigger. There’s more action and, dare I spoil you, more explosions. It’s more of an American show now, but it still has references of the past and the episode certainly had a lot of welshness in it too. It’s an interesting mix and I’m eager to find out how it’ll continue throughout the season.

Of course, we have the new additions to the team. Personally I liked both CIA agents, Rex and Esther, but I’m still unsure about Doctor Juarez. She seems competent enough in the parts she appeared. Old characters are changed from their experiences in the previous season and I can’t talk about that in more detail without going into spoilers, so it continues under the cut.

Overall, I thought it was an effective first episode, making me curious to figure out other layers of the problem in next episodes and making me realize that I did miss the good ol’ show.

Yay!! I got a brand new smartphone today and it´s the prettiest thing evar!!!

I'll try to keep up with my flist now that I have some kind of connection with the rest of the world.

New home is going well. A relief to finally have a place and not share it with anyone. I manage to keep it clean! And nobody messes it up!
