I just found out that the first 9 minutes of Star Trek will be released on IMAX with The Hobbit. It got me really excited until I found out that only one IMAX theater in Brazil will be showing the Star Trek footage. UNFAIR! The theater is about one and a half hours from where I live so not too far and I could try to get someone to take me. I still have a few days to think of something.

This makes me a little bit excited.

Make it… geronimo!

Bleeding Cool has squirrelled out news of an upcoming crossover that might send certain minds reeling. That in May, IDW are to publish a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover series. Featuring The Doctor, Rory, Amy, Captain Picard, Worf, Data, Geordie LaForge, Deanna Troy, Will Riker and the rest. And that this art, featuring the Doctor, Rory and Amy on the bridge of the Enterprise is a cover that will be used in the series.

Doctor Who has never engaged in any such officially sanctioned crossover outside of the Doctor Who universe before. The closest was Dimensions In Time, a much derided charity telethon show which featured characters from the BBC soap opera Eastenders. Then there was Death’s Head who kinda popped in and out. Star Trek has also seen comic book crossovers with X-Men and the Legion Of Superheroes. But this is the first time that two such major competing TV sci-fi franchises have been allowed to merge in any way before.

Of course this kind of meeting has been the subject of fan fiction thousands of times. But there’s a very special something when it becomes official.

IDW is attending the Gallifrey One convention in a week’s time. I’d expect this to be announced there.

As to the details… CyBorgmen? The Klingoon? The Time Lord Continuum? Dorian of the Ferenghi?

I went through my icons and found space for some ST icons xD! Yay!

I don't know why, but I really like this cold. It was something like 7C this morning, and now it's gone up to 13C. It's not winter yet, but it's freezing already and I love it! My mood is always up in the cold and I feel prettier. Must be the color in my cheeks and the lipstick I'm forced to use. ^_^

Still working like crazy and I can't wait till tomorrow, pay day. It's when it's all gonna be worth it. Hopefully.

*sighs* I wish I could watch Trek again.

My mom invited me to go watch Star Trek on Sunday. Weeeeeeeeeee!!! She's the reason I'm into scifi.

It's all my parent's fault. My mom was the one that taped each episode of TOS to watch with my father. When I got old enough to wait up for my father to arrive from work, we would all gather in their bed and watch one episode every night. We did that everyday for years. We all had each line of dialog memorized. xD Just me, my brother and our parents. My sis was either not born or a baby during those years and, hence, not so much into scifi, though she enjoys it too (just not totally addicted ^_^). We can joke in family speaking Trek language and understand.

Then my aunts, my mom's sisters, got me into Star Wars. One aunt had the trilogy on tape, while the other had many, many books of the extended universe. Guess what? All in English (she's an English teacher xD). I learned most of my English by watching Star Wars, and then by reading the books. I now have hundreds of e-books in a CD. I never counted, but it was nearly them all at the time my aunt gave it to me. I only read 15 of them =(. I need more time to dig through them all.

So, if it wasn't for my mom I wouldn't be here writing the post you now read. I wouldn't have become so interested in learning a new language just because my favorite fandom spoke it. I wouldn't have watched the Stargate movie. I would never have become interested in SG1 and then totally addicted in Atlantis. And internet, GW, LJ, fanfic, writing, teaching, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Farscape...... You get the picture. She opened Pandora's box and released fandom love.

I watch SGA episodes with her when I'm at home. She's not a whumper though. She finds Rodney funny and I get the feeling she's a sparky shipper. Also, she finds Shep handsome (she's a female and I think that's good enough reason for that). She loved The Daedalus Variantions, the last episode we watched together, and said that Ba'al looks like her brother. Her favorite character in SG1 is Jack and didn't watch any episodes after he left. Still, she has no idea her daughter likes to see hot men getting hurt and has a small liking for blood.

We are both very excited about the new Star Trek.
