I have a problem with The Sims 3. A big problem. First, I can't stop thinking about it. Second, I can't stop playing it, and third, this game has crashed almost every time I played. Except for last night. I have a very decent computer and I know the problem is the game. I don't have mods and custom content downloaded, because I only own the game a week. I'll try to download a patch to see if it fixes, but with this soddy connection... Besides, nearly everyone complains about all all these crashes, so I'll not get my hopes up.

You know, the first thing I saw when I came to LJ looking for The Sims 3 stuff was the amount of Legacy posts. It annoyed me so much I almost gave up on sharing The Sims experiences online.

And now look at me, doing my very own Legacy *headdesk*.

The thing is that I found the rules for this legacy thing and got intrigued. It's a real challenge, so I'll see if I can play it like that. I'll try to post my progress and everyone is welcomed to skip it, because I'm sure most (if not all) of my flist doesn't have any idea what The Sims are.

For those that don't know, The Sims is a life simulation game. You create a person, define the looks, the size of eyes, nose, the cheeks, the type of the hair... you can take hours making your sim. Then you need to put clothes, define a personality, choose 5 personality traits from the huge number of traits there are, then favorites... This makes each sim unique. Then you move in to a house or an empty lot in which you'll have to build your house. Now, making a house is a whole other game on its own. For those who like architecture its absolutely awesome (usually, when our own architeture skill isn't the problem, our sim's money will be). Then, you have to play it. You choose a job, a career path, make life altering decisions, marry (or not), reproduce, die, start over... its endless. The game is huge. It takes two DVDs to install it, and you need a supercomputer to play it. I guess I can't really complain about the presence of bugs, it's understandable.

Legacy games have rules. I'll try to play by them, but it'll be hard. For starters, I need to move in to this huge empty lot which will leave no money for a house. I'll see how long I'll survive like this...

So, here goes the Franci Legacy. Beware, this post contains a fair number of images.

This is Sarah. She's a hopeless romantic, clumsy, excitable, genious computer whiz. I had never been clumsy before. It's funny. She trips all the time and almost drops the things she's holding. Also, she yells and gets excited for no good reason. She's always squeeing over something. I like her. She's almost like me.

I move in and the first thing Sarah does is admiring how awesome looking the trash is. She actually squees over this. Unfortunately, screecaps don't have sound.

She seems to be enjoying the outside and decides to go fishing. She catches a whole bunch of tiny fish and even a golden fish. I had never fished before in this game. She, much later, ate the golden fish with sushi (which happens to be her favorite dish).

I get bored of this fishing thing quickly, but at least she's excited about her new learned fishing skill. I decide it's better for her to go downtown and see what's going on over there.

Her lifetime want is to reach the top of the forensic career, and for that she needs logic. She wants to play some chess and I let her. Soon, some random athletic guy shows up to play along, and because I find him hot, I (Erika ^_^) get excited.

She then starts talking about chicken legs. I have no idea how can a person start a conversation like this, but the guy liked the conversation. They played two matches, my sim lost one and he lost the other, got angry, growled in frustration and stopped playing. *g* What a sore loser. Sarah starts a conversation because, for this game to work, she needs to reproduce.

She gets excited and talks about her awesome empty lot. He didn't really find it all that impressive.

Then she went on squeeing about her awesome fishing skills and the amount of tiny fish she's got.

His face says it all.

So, I change tactics and talk about computers.

He likes that. They chat for a while and I go ahead and ask about how available for reproducing he is.

It seems he's attached to someone else. Bugers. I decided to leave the guy talking to himself and go grab a burger from another family's picnic, since I still didn't buy a refrigerator.

Before I go home to cry over the lack of a propper candidate, I go over the precinct and start my brilliant forensic carreer.

It's time for bed and work starts tomorrow. I go back to the empty lot and use my tiny amount of money to buy a bed and a refrigerator. Unfortumately, this leaves no money for walls. Well, who needs walls, right?

More to come in chapter 2.
