Just a bump of my Christmas cards post. I'll be sorting out the ones I have the address to this week. Oh, and if you gave me your address a previous year, you should do it again so I can be sure I can send a card without having it return. Also, I'll need a fandom. xD

I'm preparing something special.

Card Exchange post

Wishlist post

I would have posted the cards already but I had a stomach bug this week and could barely leave my bed. Ugh. Only started to feel better yesterday.

I'm feeling very sweet today and I'm thinking about making Brigadeiro tonight. Since it's a typical brazilian sweet, I think it'd be nice to share this national treasure. It's the first thing every kid learns how to cook and it's the most delicious thing ever!

Brigadeiro Yumminess! )

The most important game in the history of Corinthians has ended. After 102 years, finally, Corithians fans can say the curse is broken with the 2 BEAUTIFUL goals scored by Emerson, our national hero, winner, record-breaker and a champion in every team he goes to.

Next year: Chelsea in Japan.

Now we can say we have every title it's possible for a South American team to have.

I'd overload this post with images, but my connection is hanging by a thread and I won't push my luck.

Happiest day in a fan's life.

*clears throat*

It's probably early to tell but I am working on a SGA fic. It's a joint effort based on a idea for a kind of AU except not, except yes. We've been outlining it for a couple of months now and still haven't finished. We have the rough plot, about half the scenes that I'll want to write and I barely started writing the first one (even though we still don't have everything - I just think better when I'm actually writing it, it's my proccess). I'd put the LJ name of the person, except I don't remember what it is because we only talk on Facebook. Ooops.

No idea when it'll be finished, if ever, because we both have lives and don't have the time needed to focus on it for too long every week.

Easy to assume, it's extremely whumpy. I'm taking advantage of the fact that my co-writer is a doctor in training. Needless to say, the medical part, the scenes in the ER, the OR and the recovery parts are almost totally fleshed out.

Good, I need sleep! We had a pajamas party in the school on Friday slept less than four hours from Fri to Sat. But it was fun!
x_erikah_x: (avengers assemble!)
Probably not.

(Pic taken from somewhere on Tumblr)

BEWARE! Long fangirly ramble ahead. It will probably not make sense. And I will probably not even use commas.

I watched it for the third time yesterday and it was just as awesome. My mom and brother came too and they loved it! Mom came back home saying how awesome RDJ is and that he is hilarious, how HOT Chris Evans has become since the first time we saw him on screen on Cellular, that the Cap really shows his talent in playing a variety of characters, that Mark Ruffalo is the best Hulk so far, that he is to cute, that Thor looks like Brad Pitt except better, and that the 'arrow shooting guy' is really cool and that DC needs to learn how to make movies because she wants a Justice League film to top Avengers and I said 'no way that's gonna happen, mom'. We went back discussing why DC movies usually fail at box office and Marvel ones break it. Now she wants to watch Thor and Captain America.

Isn't it awesome to come from a family of geeks? Sure, mom isn't as fangirly as I am (that is probably impossible), but she does like the prettiness. Her obsession is Johnny Depp and she has seen every single movie he has ever made lots of times and owns most of them.

All in all, it was a pretty good Mother's Day, even though she actually had to pay for my brother's ticket, lol. And she also had to cook for us instead of the other way arround. And she got no presents because we are all totally broke. But we were happy and had fun. That's what matters.

Oh, and my sister's new boyfy invited us to go watch a movie on IMAX one of these days. Exciting!

I know I've been having new flisters for a while now and I've been a very bad poster and never properly welcomed any of them. I've got simmers, avengers fans, h50 fans and what-not, and it's time I told you about me.

Bullet points - Ten things about me:

1. I live in Brazil and rarely get to see things on schedule, so careful with spoilers. I usually manage to watch new eps within the same week or a week after it airs in the US or UK.

2. My life is boring and I never have anything new or exciting to post. It's usually the same ramble about not having money and wanting to do something I can't. Like cons.

3. I'm an English teacher. I teach English as a foreign language in a large Brazilian English school franchise. And I love it.

4. I rarely post fandom things anymore. Sometimes I've got a random squee about something and if I really like or dislike an ep I'll post a comment. This is due to me not having decent internet at home. When I post something, it'll either be from work, so fast, or complaining how crappy my 3G connection is, so again, fast.

5. I'm running out of things to say and I'm only half-way through.

6. I used to write a lot of fanfic that can be found using the fic tag. I have 1 SPN, 2 or 3 DW, 1 TW and a bunchload of SGAs. Most of them have links on my sidebar, but I've ran out of space and still haven't found time to re-organize everything into a sticky post. I also have a writing comm that I'm reviving and is now quite active, [livejournal.com profile] dailyfics. Also, I like playing around PS, so I'll post art from time to time. Of course, not as often as I should because, you know, no time.

7. My fandoms include: Doctor Who, Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG1, Hawaii Five-0, Psych, Star Trek (mainly TOS and 2009), Star Wars (including some of the extended universe books - I have a whole bunch of e-books that still need reading), Torchwood and Avengers (barely starting - I like it for the shallowness factor mostly, but I'd love to dig in more)

8. I need to go back to work.

9. I'll finish later.

10. I ran out of time.

Busy, busy

Really, it's been a while since I've made an update about my life. Money issues follow as usual. I owe money to the bank and blahblahblah. Nothing new there. Work goes as usual. Some classes that are getting more fun and easier to manage.

The only new thing is that I got a new laptop in exchange for the old broken one. Finally. After two weeks since I requested it through legal means. Not only they gave me a new laptop, they said I could choose any of the ones they had in the store (a big department store) as long as it cost the same as my old one AT THE TIME I BOUGHT IT OVER ONE YEAR AGO. This means that the price I paid can today buy a MUCH better one since they are mostly only selling i3 proccessors or better. I got a shiny fast new computer one thousand times better than the one I had. I could not be happier. And I got a new warranty, which I'm sure I won't need to use since this is a well trusted brand (Lenovo).

I'm spending all my free time playing The Sims, but I guess you already know that given the constant update of my legacy. I download the Create a World tool and I'm learning how to use it and loving it. I've made a realy beautiful vulcanic tropical island with an extinct volcano which is all ready but still empty. I'm going to use it to start the Nothing is Free challenge.

Basically, in this challenge, you start in a totally empty world, without any lots whatsoever, not even a city hall or anything. You create a sim and you need to work on your skills and money (NO JOBS AVAILABLE) in order to BUY and BUILD the lots. For example, in order to have a Stadium you must have maxed the athletics skill and BUY the rabbithole yourself. Each sim can only buy one lot, so you'll need several generations to complete your city. A true challenge. I started it already because I got a little tired of my Cotrim Legacy after generation 3. Don't worry, there are still updates available and I will try to continue, but really, now the only thing I have to do is to get more and more money until I win the legacy and it's only a matter of time. There is no more challenge involved. I need difficult games.

So when I'm not playing the game, I'm testing my CAW creation and when I'm not testing, I'm creating it. Busy, busy.
x_erikah_x: (the sims)
Hi all! I know I'm being a bit absent here in LJ world but that's because I'm STILL having computer issues. I was promised they would be fixed by the end of the month, so let's see about that.

I would like to tell all members of my flist that I'm doing my best to read all your posts and I'm sorry for not replying, but the 3G connection in this part of the city is horrible and my phone usually cannot handle LJ (even the mobile version of the site).

Fellow simmers, I'm sorry for the lack of an update. I still have a few chapters to post, but working on the images is a bit hard with my computer being so goddamn stubborn. I have saved my game progress in my external hard drive (I hope it works, I've never done that before) so I can resume it when my case against the store comes out and they either give me a refund or a new computer (one that doesn't break once a month - really, the thing broke down three times in three months and on each time they took two or three weeks to fix, and on each time it was a different piece of equipment that malfunctioned GRRRR).

EDIT TO FLIST: I forgot to mention that I'm looking for a place to move (again). Some person my sister knows is building rooms to rent and if the price is better than the one I'm currently paying I'll be able to move and maybe even get broadband. Keep your fingers crossed.

My holiday was extremely boring. I just stayed home without my laptop, all the time trying to stay online on my phone. Stupid service was intermitent at best most of the time.

New year finally officially started in Brazil. In here we have a saying that the year only starts after Carnaval. Classes will start on Saturday. Relief! Finally I'll have something to do!

My boredom was the trigger for me to do something that I've been wanting to for a long time. I've planned it since last year, but money has been short. The fact that my sister is now working in a department store does not help. At all. And she is evil enough to tell me all the sales, special days with insane discounts and new products that arrive. Damn her!

On Monday they held a sale and my sister said they would have 10 Samsung LCD TVs (and only 10) for a price that made me want to scream in frustration. She said that she could reserve one for me if I wanted and that the sale would help her a LOT with reaching her quota. Then my mom decided to be evil and offered to buy it in her credit card and that I only had to start paying in July when I could, if I could. Damn her for being such an amazing mom! I'll try very hard to pay her back if I manage to fill my day off with extra classes.

And now she just called saying my sister said my TV and DVD player has arrived at the store and that she is going to pick them up and also bring me lunch! Awesome mom or what?

Now I'll have something to do.

Since I won't be able to log on tomorrow, I'll leave an early Happy Valentine's Day gif.

To my awesome and amazing f-list, all the loves.

x_erikah_x: (Cas in panic!mode)
Just a MONTH after my computer was "fixed", it fried again. It's toast and it won't get past that black screen of the boot process. Really, is that bad luck or what? Since it came back with a supposedly new HD (I'm now having doubts if they really replaced it), it would freeze randomly with no apparent program as a source and force me to restart. Yesterday, it gave me a real hard time and then poof. Nothing.

I got really close to throwing that think out of the window. It's still new, how can it be giving so much trouble. Also, it came back with a different version of Windows 7 than I had previously. Since it was a better one, or at least I thought so, (W7 Ultimate) I didn't complain because I had the laptop sent straight back to the manufacturer for being almost brand new and I thought they had upgraded.

So I decided to google Windows 7 64bits and it seems it is a very common problem with this version, specially unofficial pirated versions and I started wondering if they had put an unlicenced product in my computer. I returned to the place where I had it fixed (or NOT) and they said they would test it and call back when they know what's wrong.

And I still haven't watched the lastest ep of H50 and now I don't know when I will be able to. =(

I've been helping [livejournal.com profile] re_nan with his writing and gave him a few exercises for him to practice. They'll be short drabbles and he would love to get some feedback, reviews and suggestions. He's a student of mine and he is really interested in continue writing but he just started a few days ago but already improved A LOT.

The first one was themed 'It was a day unlike any other'

This is my own take on the theme and you can go here to read his.

It's been over two weeks and I still don't have my laptop. Stupid holidays. Sorry for falling behind on my f-list.

I spend my days trying not to be bored to death. I get back to work tomorrow and I hope to have my computer back since most classes will only return next month. Can you imagine a whole month like this?

I spent New Year's Eve at my mom's. Dinner was awesome. I watched her Sky and the only upsetting thing was the fact that I had to go back home and face the normal television programming without any of my favorite shows.

I watched a House marathon and caught up on season 8 even without having seen most of season 7. There was also a Medium marathon with the early eps of the series which reminded me of what I liked about this show. But the highlight was Hawaii 5-0. I saw my first ep and I'd LOVE to see more of it. It was season 2, ep 1 or 2, I'm not sure. I think I'll be able to this year since an open network is advertising it. I hope it's on a time I can watch it.

To keep the boredom off, last week I started to exercise 30 minutes everyday. I can already feel the difference. Keeping this up is one of my new year resolutions.

I hope this post is readable. No spellcheck because I'm writing it on my phone. :-S

PC is down

Apparently, the hard drive is messed up in a way that it is innacessible and formatting would cause more damage to it. I was recommended to take it back to the store and let them solve it. That means NO COMPUTER FOR TWO WEEKS. WHAT DO I DO??? I don't even have a DVD player to watch my shows. All I have is a TV set so old it doesn't even have remote control. I think I'll have to see if my TV will accept a dvd player if I decide to buy one so I can have something to do during my vacations coming up next week. If it doesn't then I have a problem. I can't afford a modern TV right now.

Will I survive two weeks of vacations without a computer???
x_erikah_x: (psych)
My laptop has died on me yesterday and it's the hard drive. T_T I think I'm going to lose all my vids. AGAIN! I've got two choices: format or format. And right when I was starting to catch up on Psych! I managed to finish watching season 2 and was starting on the third. God I missed that show!!! I had forgotten how much it makes me laugh. I want to be able to watch more! T_T

God! I can't believe I'm writing fic. It's totally not my fault! I've written 10,786 words so far and I'm in the second half. Just a few thousands more. I hope. And it's SGA. The TARDIS may have materialized in it. I swore not to write crossovers. It's too complicated when both shows are so damn different from each other but how can anyone resist those mad flailing hands and twirling around?

It's my third day locked up inside my house and I'M GOING CRAZY!!! Please, can I get better already? I JUST WAN'T TO LEAVE THIS PLACE!!!

I can't tell how many times I watched the same eps over and over. I love Doctor Who, but I'm getting tired of doing nothing other than squee over the Eleventh Doctor. I know, bad fangirl. I'll take that back. It's never enough Eleven fangirling.

My net is crappy and I still got to watch the latest ep of TW.

x_erikah_x: (annoyed rodney)
So, I'm here sitting around the teacher's room with [livejournal.com profile] re_nan (If you still haven't added him, do it NOW, he is a BIG SGA fan and he's starting to read fanfics) and we are VERY bored. LJ is acting up for him in the computer he is using. Meanwhile, I'm downloading the Torchwood pannel from Comic Con 2011 in the pc he is using, because d/l is faster in a network pc than in a wireless one which makes matters worse. And I just found the Supernatural pannel for d/l as well.

[livejournal.com profile] re_nan is loving SGA. He is the first person I totally converted to the fandom. *proud* He is a bit upset about what was done with Elizabeth Weir. He's watched up to Spoils of War. I also got him into Livejournal (and CityVille in FB).

My current obsession is Torchwood. I have rewatched all of season 2 and I'm in the proccess of rewatching Children of Earth. I still cry every time I watch Exit Wounds and probably will cry my eyes out with Children of Earth. Again. I'm trying to convince [livejournal.com profile] re_nan to watch Torchwood too. As well as Doctor Who. And SG1. Oh, and OMG can you believe HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT STAR TREK WAS!?!?!?! I told him I wouldn't be his friend anymore for as long as it takes for him to correct this BLASPHEMY!

At work we are currently organizing the magazine we are in the proccess of making, having each Advanced student (and volunteers of lower levels) written an article, which I ALONE had to correct and format. I also make the cover and IT'S BRILLIANT. I'll see if I can make an online version available when it is done. I'll have to talk with my coordinator.

My new home is doing well. I can wash, clean or leave it dirty as I please (at the moment it is closer to dirty than anything else, lol).

I guess nothing really surprising has happened to me. Actually the biggest shock I had was the fact that my dad (who is 63 years old) has made a Facebook account and is keeping up with the rest of us. Of course, he used to be a systems analyst in his days.

I guess I have taken enough of my time. At least I was able to make [livejournal.com profile] re_nan update his LJ...
x_erikah_x: (Ronon make my day)

Since my phone keeps eating my posts I decided to try again in the school's computer.

I'm sorry for being so absent and ignoring my f-list! Not much is new except for the fact that now I've got someone to squee about SGA in RL!!! I got him totally and completely addicted to it and he's already finishing season two. I even got him to start writing and make a LJ!!! He needs SGA friends to squee with so, people, be nice and friend him back because he's all alone in the vastness of LJ. *waves at [livejournal.com profile] re_nan*

So, Renan, it's made. Hopefully you'll have plenty of friends now.

I can't even begin expressing how awesome it is to have a RL stargate friend that I converted.

EDIT: He's totally in love with Teyla and only chose one tiny Shep icon because I ordered him to.

New phone!

Yay!! I got a brand new smartphone today and it´s the prettiest thing evar!!!

I'll try to keep up with my flist now that I have some kind of connection with the rest of the world.

New home is going well. A relief to finally have a place and not share it with anyone. I manage to keep it clean! And nobody messes it up!

Yay! Great day!!!
